Where the Honda Civic 1.6 i-DTEC really shines is in its ability to deliver high economy and low CO2 emissions. Honda reckons it’ll return a whopping 78.5mpg if driven sensibly, while emitting a mere 94g/km. Again, this compares very favourably with its rivals. There is one engine in the Ford Focus range that offers slightly better economy
Read the Honest John review Honda CR-V (2012 - 2018) 1.6 i-DTEC is punchy and efficient, massive boot and a spacious cabin for five adults, superb build quality edges the CR-V into premium territory.

However, it's worth stating how GOOD the 1.6 is compared to say the Bluemotion Golf. They're both 1.6, but the Honda book is 94g/Km and 78.5mpg, whereas the Book Golf is 85g/Km and 88.3 mpg. The Honda is better in the real work, independent real world figures are just 57.3 for the Golf, but 67.5 for the Honda.
Personally as I work for a mazda and honda dealership, I can compare the two. Obviously the honda 2.2 is better. Servicing is the major problem with the mazda engines, they need to be well maintained But the service parts are pricey. For example front brake brake pads are £125. And theyre £44 for a civic.
Well here is my contribution to this gallery. It's my new (2012) Civic 2.2 I-DTEC "Executive". It's all stock so far with 18 inch Honda Hydrogen rims and Yokohama Advan 225/40 tires. I'm thinking of doing some modifications to the body and perhaps the engine.

"There is typical diesel chatter when the car is started but for overall refinement, the 1.6-litre unit is certainly one of the better diesel engines in the sector." Review Specs

The new Honda Civic is a very impressive all-round family hatchback, albeit one that's not exactly cheap to buy or exciting to look at. It's hybrid-only, making it smooth and powerful yet cheap to run, while it drives well and has a smart, intuitive interior. New-gen hybrid power is efficient yet enjoyable, good ride and handling balance
I say surprisingly because at that stage the Civic's typical buyer was 58 years old and the radical eighth-generation car looked more like something that would tempt a teenager. In 2010, the car enjoyed a facelift. The distinctive five-door got a revised black front grille, inspired by the then-deleted Type-R performance version.
Driver appeal. As with the previous generation model, this Accord is an enjoyable car to drive. The diesel variant offers the most rounded experience, although both petrol models deliver strong performances. Ride comfort is good as is overall refinement, while the Accord saloon is agile enough to impress keen drivers.
Parking or manoeuvring around town, the Civic stays almost silent. You’ll notice very little reliance on the petrol engine, with the 1.05kWh battery doing the legwork in most situations. Despite .
